Unit History & Context: Charlie Company of the 2nd Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment — "Dustoff" — is the Air Ambulance (MEDEVAC) company within the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade's 2-227 AVN. "Dustoff" is the universal MEDEVAC callsign across U.S. Army aviation, originating in Vietnam — taken from Major Charles L. Kelly's famous response to a request to abandon a mission under fire: "When I have your wounded." The motto "Helicopter Ambulance to Save a Life" plainly states the mission. This patch is the tan/orange subdued colorway.
