C Co, 2-229 AVN "Spartans" — Operation New Dawn
C Co, 2-229 AVN "Spartans" — Operation New Dawn deployment patch. Spartan helmet with ace of spades and stylized S emblem.
Unit History & Context: Charlie Company of the 2nd Battalion, 229th Aviation Regiment — the "Spartans" — deployed to Iraq for Operation New Dawn, the transition phase of U.S. operations in Iraq following the formal end of Operation Iraqi Freedom in September 2010. The 2-229 AVN is an Apache attack battalion, and C Co's Spartan iconography reflects the warrior-culture aesthetic common to Apache communities.
Symbology: Spartan helmet (with the distinctive crest) at center, an ace of spades behind, and a stylized 'S' emblem at the center — borrowing the visual language of comic-book heroics. Tan/brown subdued embroidery throughout.
For Collectors: Operation New Dawn deployment patches are less common than the longer OIF and OEF sets. Comic-book-style S emblem — see alternate descriptor.

[INTERNAL — TM Review]
This patch features pop-culture or brand-adjacent imagery. Alternate trademark-safe descriptor available: Stylized 'S' emblem inside a spade shape — visually reminiscent of classic comic-book hero iconography, adopted by C/2-229 as a unit emblem. (Remove this tab before publishing if not needed.)
